ZAMBOANGA CITY–Cary John Pioc, the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) federation president, on Tuesday vowed to stay apolitical and to work for the betterment of the city.
Pioc, 20, made this declaration in his inaugural speech at the City Council when he attended his first session as ex-officio representative for the youth sector.
“My vote will be in favor of the betterment of our city. I will never make decisions that will not benefit the majority,” Pioc declared, as he vowed to shy away from politics.
“My vote will not represent any political party, color or symbol. I will stand for what is right and just,” he added.
He promised to craft ordinances, policies and resolutions that will address the needs of the local youth sector, and called for the immediate approval of the Local Youth Development Council Ordinance, which is still pending in the august body.
Authored by Councilor Benjamin Guingona IV, the measure seeks to facilitate the mapping of all existing youth programs in the city.
In the present composition of the City Council, three officials namely Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde and Councilors Josephine Pareja and Lilibeth Nuño have also served as SK representative to the legislative body in the previous years. (PNA)
