Duterte back in Marawi as the battle enters final stage

President Rodrigo Duterte made his fourth visit to Marawi City this afternoon to personally check the situation of the government troops who are on the frontline of the fight against terrorists.

 

President went to the Grand Islamic Mosque who used to be the Command and Control of the Maute Terrorist Group and where some hostages hid. During the inspection, the President also heard the retaliation of the troops against the Maute.

He also proceeded to Mapandi Bridge and to the main battle area where he gladly allowed photo opportunities with the troops to give them morale support.

The President also had an hour to attend the command conference with the Joint Task Force Marawi.

Thereafter, President Duterte gave goods , watches to soldiers and even cigarettes to those who wants.

PRRD: “ I will not stop you kasi under stress kayo”

The President also promised a trip to Hong Kong tour to all women assigned to Marawi after the crisis.

During his speech, the President also thanked China for the riffles they have donated for the soldiers.

Before leaving, the Commander-in-Chief gave a snappy salute to the soldiers who are still fighting for peace in Marawi.

The President first visited the city on July 20 when Mapandi Bridge was regain, second was on August 4 after troops were able to retake the Safrullah M. Dipatuan (SMD) General Hospital and on August 24.
Duterte arrived about 2 p.m., together with Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon, AFP chief Eduardo Año and Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go.

Earlier this afternoon, the President paid his last respect to the scout ranger captain Rommel Sandoval who recently died during the battle in Marawi.
