Fire razes houses, ships along Pasig River

By Raymond Carl Dela Cruz | Philippine News Agency

MANILA – A still undetermined number of houses and structures were razed by a fire that broke out in an area at the mouth of Pasig River in Manila Thursday night, May 19, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.

In a message to reporters, PCG spokesperson Commodore Armando Balilo said the fire destroyed houses and several ships docked in the area.

Balilo said the ships could not get out of the area due to the low tide.

He said they had alerted their firefighting teams to respond to the place as the PCG declared a “no sail zone” in the area.

As of 10:00 p.m., the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the fire was declared at fourth alarm. (PNA)
