MANILA — Malacañang on Friday welcomed the result of a recent Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey, which noted a rise in Filipinos’ personal quality of life and optimism in the Philippine economy.

“We welcome the continuous rise in number of Filipino adults saying that their lives improved over the past 12 months. These results once again emphasize that our people see and appreciate the President’s tireless efforts to improve and bring about genuine and positive change to the nation,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said in a statement.

Panelo said the recent survey results showed that majority of Filipinos are confident with and supportive of the advocacies of President Rodrigo R. Duterte.

“This is yet another loud repudiation against — and yet another wake-up call to — the critics and detractors of the Duterte administration, which include the Left-leaning groups, militant Church members and the political opposition, who continuously and deliberately ignore our achievements which redound to the benefit of the Filipino masses,” he said.

Panelo also vowed that the Duterte administration will work harder in the remaining term of the President.

“With a great majority of administration candidates overwhelmingly voted by our people to continue supporting the advocacies of the President, the current government, fuelled by the optimism of the Filipino people, would work double time to improve on the significant gains of the past three years during the remainder of PRRD’s term as Chief Executive,” he said.

The recent SWS survey showed that 38 percent of Filipinos say their lives improved in the past 12 months.

The same survey also showed that in March 2019, economic optimism among adult Filipinos remains “excellent,” with 45 percent of Filipino adults hopeful that the Philippine economy would get better in the next 12 months, as compared to the figure of 43 percent last December 2018.

The survey, conducted from March 28-31, had 1,440 respondents and sampling error margins of ±2.6 percent.
