People free to express support for RevGov: Aguirre

MANILA — “We are free to express our own opinion.”

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II made the comment Friday regarding President Rodrigo Duterte’s supporters who staged a rally in front of Mendiola Bridge during the 154th birth anniversary of Andres Bonifacio on Thursday to express their support for the setting up of a revolutionary government.

Meron kasi naniniwala na ang revolutionary government ay magpapadali ng pagbabago. Lahat naman tayo may right to express our own opinion (There are those who believe that a revolutionary government would hasten the implementation of change. All of us have the right to express our own opinion),” Aguirre told reporters after the launch of the Uniform Manual on Time Allowances and Service of Sentence, held at the Century Park Hotel here.

Walang bawal dun. (There is nothing in there that is forbidden.) In other words, we are free to express our own opinion,” he added.

Duterte supporters on Thursday held rallies in various parts of the country to push for the declaration of a revolutionary government.

While revolutionary governments come after a president or a leader has been ousted, the President’s supporters want a sitting president to implement it during his term. (Christopher Lloyd Caliwan/PNA)
