1 dead in Bilibid shooting

The New Bilibid Prison (NBP) was placed under red alert status after a riot broke out inside the maximum security compound that left one person deprived of liberty (PDL) dead and nine more hurt.

A shooting incident Tuesday night, July 25, was triggered by a commotion between Bahala Na Gang and Batang City Jail.

“‘Yung baril, may na-recover kami na caliber. Kapwa niya PDL,” NBP Superintendent Angelina Bautista said.

The PDL who died has been stabbed by an ice pick, according to Bautista.

“Bawal ang dalaw sa loob habang isinasagawa pa ang imbestigasyon,” she added. With a report from Louisa Erispe-ag
