One individual was killed and nine others are missing after a fishing boat sank off Baganga, Davao Oriental early Thursday morning, June 22, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
Half-submerged vessel Genesis 2 was carrying 24 crew members when it capsized around 1:00 a.m., 14 of whom have been rescued by responding fishing boats in the area.
Boat captain Allan Donaire said they encountered a sudden change in sea condition around midnight.
The PCG said BRP Tubbataha has been deployed to respond to the incident, while the fishing company who operates the boat has already deployed vessels to assist in the ongoing search and rescue operations. AG
