100% onsite capacity for workers now in effect under Alert Level 1

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Monday (March 7) said that under Alert Level 1, 100% onsite capacity for workers is now in effect.

DOLE Assistant Secretary Ma. Teresita Cucueco clarified that the government does not encourage the continuation of work-from-home arrangements, but such a system is still allowed.

“Prior to COVID-19, naglabas na ng Telecommuting Act. Ito iyong Republic Act 11165. With the use of technology, nandoon iyong alternative work arrangements na in-allow by the law,” Cucueco said during the Laging Handa public briefing.

“During COVID, nakita natin na marami sa kasamahan natin ay talagang mas nagiging effective ang work from home at hindi natin matatanggal iyon sa management kapag nakikita naman nila na maayos ang work from home output and productivity and delivery, puwede pa rin naman nilang gawin ito,” she said.

Cucueco then said that following the implementation of the 100% onsite work capacity, employees must still follow health protocols.

“Pero andoon pa rin po na sumusunod dapat sa minimum public health standards and iyong ventilation sa closed spaces and the vaccination,” she said. -rir
