120 Isabela cops to help secure ASEAN Summit

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela — At least 120 policemen from the Isabela Police Provincial Office (IPPO) have been chosen to be part of the security contingent for the 31st ASEAN Summit on November 10-14.

Supt. Ronald Laggui, IPPO Community Relations Officer, said the policemen are from the province’s police stations and were recommended by their police station chiefs.

Laggui said the IPPO security contingent will be reporting to the Cagayan Valley Police before going to Metro Manila to secure ASEAN leaders attending the summit. The IPPO did not say though when the chosen Isabela policemen will leave for Manila.

He said the security contingent of the IPPO will be under the supervision and control of the National Capital Region and will be assigned in various venues of the ASEAN summit activities.

The security contingents will ensure the safety of delegates from the neighboring Southeast Asian countries. Leaders of the ASEAN bloc and partner trade countries will attend the summit.

The ASEAN Summit this year is hosted by the Philippine government and various activities have already been conducted in the past few months. (Simeon Dilan/PNA)
