126 new drug enforcement officers complete PDEA training

MANILA — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Tuesday conferred badges to 126 new Drug Enforcement Officers during their graduation rites held at the PDEA Academy, Camp Castaňeda, Silang, Cavite.

PDEA Director General Aaron N. Aquino said the class is the first batch to graduate under his term, stressing that he is proud to see them full of vision and zeal to have joined PDEA as drug enforcers responsible in implementing the primary program of President Rodrigo Duterte on the war against illegal drugs.

“Do not forget your training, and strive further to enhance your knowledge and skills to carry out your duties and responsibilities competently, professionally and with the highest ethical standard in fulfillment of the agency’s vision and mission”, Aquino said.

The Maragtala Class which stands for “Marangal na Tagapagligtas Laban sa Droga” is the 10th batch to graduate in PDEA Academy.

They have undergone six months training under the supervision of PDEA Academy Superintendent, Director Joel P. Plaza, where they were equipped with the essential knowledge and skills, and transformed into principled, skilled and well-rounded PDEA agents, the primary implementors of Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The class was topped by Kenneth B. Quilaton, a native of Dumaguete City, followed by Johnny M. Bumidang Jr. from La Trinidad, Benguet, and Gerald B. Alzaga from Bacacay, Albay.

Subsequently, PDEA welcomed the 236 incoming drug enforcement trainees during the oath-taking and reception rites in PDEA Academy. The incoming trainees endured the stages and rigors from application, screening, processing and have proven themselves deserving to become part of the 11th batch of Drug Enforcement Officers.

A total of 2,196 applicants vied for the batch but only 236 passed. (PNA)
