MANILA — A total of 138 new commissioned police officers who graduated from the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) received their badges of honor from police officials in a ceremony in Camp Crame on Thursday.

PNP chief, Gen. Oscar Albayalde led the ceremony as he pinned the badge of Lt. Jervis Allen Ramos, the valedictorian of the PNPA “Sansiklab” class of 2019.

Albayalde called on the new cops to win the hearts and minds of the people and be part of the work force providing quality service to the people.

“The police must be able to render quality service. Our advice for them is to start their service right so that they end their service right. They should also uphold the rule of law and respect for human rights,” Albayalde told reporters after the event.

The country’s top cop said the new cops will be deployed initially for election duty prior to undergoing other trainings, including commando and basic internal security operations course.

“They will stay at the stations for now. They will be manning these stations. They will serve as stay behind force. They won’t be deployed in the field immediately as they lack experience. They should be at the stations because our manpower might be depleted because many of our police officers are on field duty during the elections,” Albayalde said.

These 138 cops who earned their Bachelor of Science in Public Safety degree from the PNPA also received PNP-issued firearms.
