MANILA — A total of 15 young Filipinos journalists, five of them from the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), have returned to the country after attending the JENESYS 2018: Youth Exchange Program for Media Industry held from Nov. 27 to Dec. 5 in Tokyo, Japan.
The five journalists from PCOO are Kris Tiffany Janson, Pearl Iris Clemente, Oliver Ross Rivera, Kate Refendor and Alleine Nicole Namuco.
Other Filipino delegates include Judie Anne Abejero, Ace Perez, Raymart Escopel, John Andrew Orocay, Cedrix Perez, Brylle Lancelot Abad, Mary Louise Omelio, Margaret Anne Quisido, Edison Balilla, and Marie Ylenette Reforzado.
JENESYS is a youth exchange program made possible by the Japanese government, Japan International Cooperation Center in partnership with National Youth Commission of the Philippines.
The program aims to create a mutual understanding and trust among the people of Japan and the Asia Pacific region and encourage an understanding and dissemination of Japan’s economy, society, history, diverse culture, politics, and diplomatic relations.
Throughout the seven-day program, the delegates got a chance to discover and experience Japan’s rich culture, traditions and technological advancements, according to JENESYS’s website.
They have been introduced to “Cool Japan,” a harmonious co-existing of Japan’s present and past represented by ultra-modern business facilities, well-preserved cultural and historical architecture, animation and pop-culture.
The participants also learned the current situation of prefecture and municipalities in various perspectives such as local politics, education, and social welfare, among others.
Under the Home Stay program, the young journalists experienced a deeper understanding on the life and sense of values of the Japanese people.
