17 drug personalities nabbed in Bacolod City

BACOLOD CITY — A total of 17 persons were arrested while more than PHP206,000 worth of illegal drugs were seized in separate drug operations here in the first week of August, the Bacolod City police said in a report on Tuesday.

On Aug. 5, the police carried out five separate drug operations that netted five suspects.

A 17-year-old suspect was the first to fall in a buy-bust conducted by operatives of Police Station 10 in Purok San Antonio, Phase 6B in Barangay Handumanan at about 12:20 a.m.

The minor was endorsed to the custody of the Social Development Center.

At 2:15 a.m., suspect Reggie Cruz, 24, of Murcia, Negros Occidental, was arrested when he yielded three sachets of “shabu” or methamphetamine hydrochloride after he was flagged down by mobile patrol personnel of Police Station 1 for driving without a helmet, plate number and for violation of the riding-in-tandem ordinance.

Personnel of Police Station 9 apprehended Mark Rebosana in another operation at about 12:20 p.m. on the same day in Purok San Benito, Barangay Sum-ag.

Last to fall but yielded the biggest drug haul, at PHP120,000 worth of suspected “shabu”, were Jenelyn de la Cruz and her common-law husband, Jeffel Palis.

The two were arrested by operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit in a buy-bust in Purok Cheriza 2, Barangay 27.

On Aug. 4, three newly-identified drug personalities, Hernan de Asis, Sermel Paredes, and Gregory Lastimoso were arrested by operatives of Police Station 4 at about 1:50 p.m. in Purok Cheriza 2, Barangay 27.

In a buy-bust at 6:50 p.m., suspect Ricarte Camento was arrested by personnel of Police Station 8 in Purok Neptune, Barangay Singcang-Airport.

His brother Rodelio Camento evaded arrest, leaving behind a grenade and a camouflage sling bag containing an improvised firearm loaded with one live Caliber 357 ammunition.

Still on the same day, Vicente Repuela was arrested by Police Station 1 personnel at about 11:40 p.m. in Purok Boulevard, Barangay 14.

On Aug. 3, Kent Figueroa was apprehended for selling marijuana to a police poseur-buyer of Police Station 5 at about 4:15 p.m. at the Granada Heights Subdivision in Barangay Granada.

A day earlier, five newly-identified drug personalities, John Paul Salazar, Boots Toledanes, Glen Carrera, Jean Rey Hinaut, and Jerold Torres, were arrested in a buy-bust at about 3:15 p.m. in Purok Sigay, Barangay 2.

At about 3:50 p.m. on Aug. 1, Fritz Eric Poncejan, a newly-identified drug personality, was arrested in a buy-bust in Purok Balungay, Barangay 28 by operatives of Police Station 6. (Nanette Guadalquiver/PNA)
