17 illegal gamblers nabbed in Bulacan

CAMP GEN. ALEJO S. SANTOS, Bulacan — Seventeen individuals were arrested by the Bulacan police under its intensified campaign against illegal gambling in this province on Sunday.

Senior Superintendent Chito Bersaluna, acting provincial director of the Bulacan Philippine National Police (PNP), said that operatives of 1st  and 2nd Bulacan Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) immediately responded to reports regarding the illegal gambling activities in the towns of Norzagaray and Pulilan.

Bersaluna said the arrested suspects in Norzagaray were Roderick Balilla, Adrian Pol Salvador, Alvin Balilla and Antonio Peña.

Those collared in Pulilan town, he said, were Nestor Davi; Daniel Francia; Nemesio Diego; Reynaldo Cruz; Lito Cruz; Pablo Galupo Jr.;  Jayson Dela Cruz; Jovito Baltazar; Romeo Mendoza; Venacio Contreras; Domingo Roque; Melanio Sampoleo; and Josephina Sumago.

Confiscated during the operations were 148 pieces of green chips; 54 pieces of playing cards; five pieces of dices; and total bet money of PHP980 in different denominations.

The suspects are now under the custody of 1st and 2nd PMFC.

“The Bulacan police will continuously implement its intensified campaign against all forms of illegal gambling in the province, particularly to the areas where illegal gambling activities are said to be rampant,” Bersaluna said. ( Manny Balbin /PNA)
