18 new school buildings to rise in Zamboanga

ZAMBOANGA CITY — Eighteen school buildings worth PHP467.63 million are up for construction in this city’s first district this year.

These projects are funded by the Department of Education (DepEd) under the agency’s School Building Program and will be constructed through the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

First district Rep. Celso Lobregat, chair of the House Committee on Public Works and Highways, told the Philippine News Agency that the school building projects have already been bidded out and “are up for construction.”

The school building projects are the following: Rio Hondo Elementary School; Talisayan National High School; Pasonanca Elementary School; Labuan Central School; Recodo National High School; Sta. Maria Central School; Patalon Elementary School; Sinunuc Elementary School; Catalina Vda. de Jalon Elementary School; San Roque Elementary School; Recodo Elementary School; Sinunuc National High School; Regional Science High School; Southcom Elementary School; San Jose Gusu Elementary School; and, San Roque National High School.

“We are very much concerned in molding the future of our young generation, education is very important and providing them the necessary infrastructure is our great contribution to their success,” Lobregat said.

He said since 2013, the DepEd-DPWH school building projects for the first district of this city have been maximized and institutionalized.

Last year, 28 school buildings with 242 classrooms worth PHP356.23 million were completed.
