187 barangays in Caraga declared ‘drug-cleared’

BUTUAN CITY–A regional oversight committee for the government’s ongoing war against drugs has declared 187 barangays in Caraga region as “drug-cleared.”

Caraga’s Barangay Drug-Clearing Program-Regional Oversight Committee (BDCP-ROC) on Thursday said it has declared as “drug-cleared” 116 barangays in Surigao del Sur, 57 barangays in Agusan del Sur, and 14 barangays in Surigao del Norte.

Aileen T. Lovitos, director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 13 (Caraga) and the body’s chairperson, said they reached the decision last week after seven deliberations.|

Including PDEA, BDCP-ROC is composed of all government agencies involved in the anti-illegal drug campaign.

Lovitos said BDCP-ROC is still in the process of assessing and validating other villages here in the region. (Noel Najarro/PNA)
