2 big-time drug suspects arrested in Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY — Chief Supt. Graciano Mijares, police regional director for the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), has lauded the joint government forces for the arrest of two big-time illegal drug peddlers in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao, on Wednesday night.

Joint personnel from the Sultan Kudarat police, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-ARMM) and elements of the Army’s 37th Infantry Battalion conducted drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Simuay that led to the arrest of illegal drug suspects Rolly, 28; and Jomar, 20,; both surnamed Ali and residents of Barangay Darapanan, also in Sultan Kudarat.

Citing reports from the Sultan Kudarat police office, Mijares said law enforcers recovered 14 heat-sealed shabu with an estimated market value of PHP50,000; shabu paraphernalia and marked money.

“The police in ARMM will continue to hunt down illegal drug personalities because we wanted to save their lives and the lives of civilians who they peddle prohibited drugs,” Mijares said.

The two, who are believed to belong to a large illegal drug syndicate operating in Sultan Kudarat town, are now detained and facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The suspects were among the more than 400 drug personalities currently under police watch in Maguindanao.

“We will continue to hunt you down, it is better for you and your families if you peacefully surrender and do away with illegal activities,” Mijares advised other drug personalities who continue their illegal activities. (Edwin Fernandez/PNA)
