2 bus phone thieves nabbed

MANILA — Two thieves preying on bus commuters along Epifanio de los Santos Ave. (EDSA) were arrested on Tuesday.

The two, identified as Demsey Oli, 26, of Batasan Hills, Quezon City, and Richie Reyes, 26, of Sta. Mesa, Manila, were arrested after they robbed two victims inside a bus near Robinsons Forum Mall in Mandaluyong City.

The victims, Neil Rebong, 26, and Clara Magdayao, 46, said the two suspects, along with a third suspect who eluded arrest, worked by crowding their victims and pulling their hair as another plucked the phones.

After snatching the phones, they would alight from the bus.

Two policemen, PO1 Marvin Nasdoman and PO1 Reynan Lauresta, chanced upon the suspects when the victims sought their help.

Recovered from the suspects were a Samsung A8 cellphone worth PHP27,000 and a Vivo 7 cellphone worth PHP15,000.
Charges of robbery with intimidation have been filed against the suspects. (Benjamin Pulta/PNA)
