2 dead, 1 missing in Cebu City flood


Two people were killed while a 16-year-old boy went missing due to the flooding caused by heavy rainfall on Tuesday in Cebu City.

Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office Chief Ramil Ayuman has identified the casualties as 85-year-old Sija Flavio Detuya and 48-year-old Leonardo Otto.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing for the minor who was swept away by the water current after falling off a creek.

Meanwhile, heavy downpours have triggered landslide in other parts of the city. Around 20 barangays are currently affected, resulting in the evacuation of hundreds of residents.

Cebu City Mayor Edgar Labella has already called for an emergency meeting to respond to the flooding and landslide incidents

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has immediately provided assistance to evacuees while the CDRMMMO is currently assessing the extent and worth of damage of the incidents. – Report from John Aroa
