2 gun-for-hire, carnap group members killed in Bulacan

CAMP ALEJO S. SANTOS, Bulacan— Two members of Raga Group, a gun-for-hire and carnapping group, were killed while another member was arrested Friday in the manhunt operation conducted by Bulacan police.

Senior Supt. Chito G. Bersaluna, Bulacan acting provincial director, said that joint elements of Bulacan operatives were supposed to serve warrant of arrest for murder and violation of anti-carnapping law against Brian Raga, who was believed responsible for the series of carnapping in the town of San Ildefonso and nearby areas and was identified to be connected with the Delos Reyes gun-for-hire group, when the shoot out took place.

“Raga and one unidentified suspect fired towards approaching operatives in their hideout located at Sitio Duplas, Barangay Kalawakan, Dona Remedios Trinidad, prompting our operatives to retaliate causing the death of two suspects,” Bersaluna said.

Found at the crime scene were one caliber 9-mm Beretta used by Raga; sling bag containing a hand grenade; one 12-gauge Winchester shotgun; and one caliber .45 pistol.

On the other hand, operatives manning the blocking force arrested another suspect identified as Joel Bernales, who was trying to escape from the area.

Recovered from his possession was an Armscor caliber .45 pistol with SN 1103128.

Meanwhile, Bulacan operatives also arrested six wanted persons in different manhunt operations Friday.

They were Jenelyn Morales, resident of Poblacion, Pulilan, and listed as the No. 5 most wanted of person of the Highway Patrol Group Region 3; Jayson Balita, 27, and Roji Abria, 20, both from Barangay Catacte Bustos; Archie Israel Morales, 26, of Barangay Sta Monica, Hagonoy; Ryan Magkasi, 34, of Meycauayan City; and Noime Nicolas, 46, from Barangay Pulong Buhangin, Sta. Maria.

“The arrested persons are now under the custody of respective unit/stations for proper disposition,” Bersaluna added. (Manny Balbin/PNA)
