2 NPAs surrender in Agusan del Norte

Two NPA rebels voluntarily surrendered to troops of the 29th Infantry Battalion (29IB) in Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte, on Oct. 21.

According to Lt. Col. Jason M Saldua, 29IB commanding officer, the guerilla fighters who surrendered belonged to the CPP [Communist Party of the Philippines]-NPA [New People’s Army]-terrorists (CNTs) guerilla front 16 of the North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC).

The surrenderees turned over two AK47 assault rifles, two bandoliers, and seven magazines loaded with ammunition.

Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Andres Centino commended the efforts of the 29IB that led to the surrender of the CNTs in their area of operation.

“To 29IB troops, sustain your momentum against the CNTs and continue to protect our people from harm,” Centino said. “Your efforts are becoming visible, even to the rebels, and we will soon welcome more people who choose to pursue true peace.” (PA) – jlo
