MANILA — Two Philippine Army (PA) units, the Capiz-based 3rd Infantry Division and the Camarines Sur-headquartered 9th Infantry Division, were awarded the Institutionalized Status of the Army Governance Pathway (AGP) during ceremonies in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City Tuesday.
Awarding took place during the Army’s 2nd Semester Command Conference, PA spokesperson Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala said in a statement.
PA chief, Lt. Gen. Macairog S. Alberto, conferred the status to the two infantry divisions for advancing in the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR) by showcasing their division’s excellence in terms of governance and strategy management.
Prior to receiving the recognition, the 9th Division was already awarded its initiation, compliance, and proficiency hallmarks in 2013, 2015 and 2016 respectively.
On the other hand, the 3rd Infantry Division also gained the corresponding awards in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
Accomplishing the first three stages serves as a requirement for obtaining the Institutionalized Status.
Through the AGP, the said award is rendered by the Philippine Army to its units which have attained breakthrough results and exemplary performance in personnel readiness, mission accomplishment through increased partnerships for project implementation and community development, and recognition from stakeholders.
AGP is one of PA’s tools in sustaining ATR’s implementation. It ensures the continuous transformation initiatives throughout all the levels of the command. Both divisions also received the Trailblazer Award for institutionalizing systems and processes for transformation.
“Our infantry divisions are the Army’s operational cutting edge, deploying capabilities and resources in their respective areas of responsibilities in pursuit of mission accomplishment as well as in support of nation-building. The two divisions’ achievement reflects the entire Philippine Army’s quest for a truly world-class army by the year 2028. We will continue to strive for excellence so that we can better fulfill our mandate and serve the people,” Zagala said.
