Two Filipino films emerged victorious at the 8th Bangkok Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Film Festival 2022 in Thailand.

“The Boy and the Fight of Spiders” (Diwalwal) received the Southeast Asian Project Pitch (SEAPitch) Award.

SEAPitch is a competition for ASEAN filmmakers with films that feature the sea.

A trophy and a prize worth $5,000 USD were presented to the winner.

Another Filipino film “Rookie,” got a Special Mention Award, a trophy, and $2,000 USD.

The country’s entry to the ASEAN Short Film Competition was “Rocks in a Windless Wadi,” while Mike de Leon’s “Itim” (Rituals of May) was one of the three films that will feature in the ASEAN Classic Non-Competition Film Showcase.

Hosted annually, the ASEAN Film Festival aims to promote regional films, film artists, and entrepreneurs. – gb
