25 drug reformists in Pampanga finish rehab program

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – A new life awaits 25 drug reformists in this city after they successfully completed their four-month community drug abuse rehabilitation program at the “Bahay Pagbabago” here.

In his message to the reformists on Tuesday, Mayor Edwin Santiago said they should absolutely refrain from using illegal drugs and actively participate in different recreational activities in the city.

“Everyone deserves a second chance. Here in the City of San Fernando, we are not closing the door for those who wandered in the wrong path but rather, we are giving them hope through the implementation of various programs that could help in the different aspects of their lives,” Santiago said.

The four-month rehabilitation program was spearheaded by the City Social Welfare and Development Office, in cooperation with the Department of the Interior and Local Government, and City of San Fernando police.

The graduates successfully passed the reformation activities that included psycho education sessions; moral recovery program; group therapy; and values enrichment through the support of the local government.

A series of medical examinations and random drug testing were also conducted to monitor their health condition and to ensure that they are no longer using illegal drugs.

One of the drug reformists expressed his gratitude to the local government of San Fernando for conducting a community rehabilitation program, which, he said is truly helpful in improving and developing their lives.

“This is indeed a big help for all of us. Thus, we would like to thank the local government of San Fernando for giving us a second chance. It is not yet too late to get back to our families and of course, to ourselves,” the reformist said. (Ric Sapnu/PNA)
