The Department of Education (DepEd) said there will be a total of 25,597 students who will graduate in elementary and senior high schools in this city.

Rosalio Conturno Jr., school governance and operations chief of the City Division of Schools, said Monday that 20,876 of the 25,597 will graduate in the elementary level while the remaining 4,721 in senior high school.

Conturno said the schools in far-flung and island barangays will hold their graduation ceremonies ahead of the regular April 1-5 schedule set by DepEd.

Conturno reminded school officials of the no-collection policy of DepEd, adding that teachers are not allowed to withhold school documents in exchange for any form of payments.

He said politicians are not allowed to serve as guest speakers in graduation rites.

There are 172 elementary and 41 secondary public schools in this city with more or less 8,000 teachers.
