298 Bacolod drug personalities arrested in first 6 months

BACOLOD CITY — A total of 298 drug personalities were arrested in various operations conducted by the Bacolod City Police from January to June this year.

Data on the city police anti-drug campaign, obtained Friday, showed the arrested suspects consisted of 20 high-value targets (HVTs), 32 street-level targets (SLTs), and 246 newly-identified personalities.

Two HVTs, Ramy Poja and Roberto Lim, were killed during a police operation in Sitio Sibucao, Barangay Banago on May 24.

In the first half of the year, anti-drug personnel conducted 193 operations. Of the 298 arrests made, 445 cases have been filed.

Records further showed that 813.38 grams of “shabu” or methamphetamine hydrochloride, with a street value of PHP12.2 million, were seized during the period.

From June 1 to 30 alone, anti-drug operatives recovered 164.71 grams of the illegal substance worth PHP2.47 million, in a series of buy-bust operations.

Last month, the city police conducted 45 operations and arrested 66 drug personalities — 60 newly-identified persons, five SLTs, and one HVT. A total of 114 cases have been filed.

Meanwhile, in the campaign against illegal gambling, 537 persons were arrested in 181 operations and cash totaling PHP40,961.75 has been confiscated from January to June.

A total of 129 persons were booked for violation of Presidential Decree 1602 and 52 for violation of Republic Act No. 9287. A total of 181 cases have been filed.
