3 counts of parricide filed vs. man who killed wife, children

The father who killed his wife and two children ages three and a year old have undergone inquest proceedings early Monday morning.

Three counts of parricide have been filed against Aiko Siacunco, according to Taguig Chief of Police Col. Celso Rodriguez.

“Nai-file na natin kanina. So siya mananagot under Article 246 of the Revised Penal Code… Parricide na may kaukulang parusa na reclusion perpetua to death (Those were filed earlier. He will be held accountable under Article 246 of the Revised Penal Code… Parricide is punishable with reclusion perpetua to death),” Rodriguez disclosed.

The results of the medico legal examinations of his wife Carina and two children have been released and revealed they were not killed by hanging.

Rodriguez said the death certificate of the wife stated that the cause of death “is asphyxia by strangulation.”

“Ibig sabihin sinakal siya (This means that she was strangled). Habang doon naman sa dalawang bata ay asphyxia by smothering. Ibig sabihin maaring tinakpan niya ng kamay niya para hindi makahinga ang mga bata o ginamitan niya ng unan para mamatay (The two kids died due to asphyxia by smothering, which means he might have used his hands so they could not breathe or used a pillow until they died) the local police chief added.

The Taguig PNP is looking into two motives that led Aiko to commit the crime. The couple have been fighting after the suspect was fired from his job due to the pandemic and over jealousy.

Siacunco is set to undergo drug testing and psychiatric exam at the National Center for Mental Health in the next few days but the results will not affect his case.

After killing his children, he also tried suicide by hanging, self-stabbing, and drinking bleach to no avail. The suspect turned himself in to authorities on Christmas day after the crime and is currently detained at the Taguig PNP lock up cell. – Report from Ryan Lesigues
