3 dead, 10 injured in Zamboanga Sibugay road mishap

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur — Three people, including two children, were killed while 10 others were wounded when a passenger bus and a tricycle collided in the neighboring province of Zamboanga Sibugay.

The collision occurred around 5:56 p.m. Monday along the national highway in Sitio Suloan, Barangay Kimos, Siay municipality.

PO1 Harry Ora, case investigator, identified the fatalities as  Jovelyn Suico, 36; Justin Perarin, 3; and Aila Suico, 3.

Jovelyn died instantly while Perarin was declared dead upon arrival in the hospital. Aila expired while being treated for injuries.

The wounded victims, who remained in hospitals, were Fernando de Guzman, 41; Jeneth Atilano, 39; Adrian Atilano, 12; Mica Atilano, eight; Tresha Mendoza, 15; Jenelyn Mendoza, 35; Angel Mae Suico; Nicole Mendoza, seven; and, Janus Perarin, seven.

Ora said the victims were all passengers of the tricycle driven by de Guzman.

Ora said that another passenger of the tricycle, Jasper Reyes, was slightly injured and had assisted in attending to the other victims at the hospital.

He said the tricycle collided with the passenger bus after it encroached on the opposite lane. De Guzman reportedly lost control of the tricycle.
