The Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced on Tuesday that three more EDSA Busway stations will be constructed in 2026 to enhance the bus system’s efficiency and accessibility for commuters.

The additional three stations in Cubao, Magallanes and Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) are in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to further improve the busway’s time and motion and encourage the use of public transport.

Transportation Undersecretary for Road Infrastructure Mark Steven Pastor said the bidding for the construction of three EDSA Busway stations had been awarded this month, with construction set to begin in the first quarter of 2026, and will be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026.

“Mag-start pa lang po ito [construction] ng 2026. Kaka-award lang po ito nitong December at matatapos po ito sa isang taon,” he said as quoted in a news release.

Pastor also noted that the new EDSA Busway Kamuning Station will be inaugurated in the first quarter of 2026 as part of the busway’s modernization.

He said the new Kamuning Station is equipped with elevators and escalators to improve accessibility for commuters, especially for persons with disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens and pregnant women.

“Meron din tayong ongoing construction dito sa Kamuning area para mai-ayos po natin para magkaroon ng footbridge na bago—nakahiwalay sa MRT-3. Accessible po ito at may elevators po dito,” he said. (PNA)
