DUMAGUETE CITY – Since the return of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the administration’s war against illegal drugs, the PNP in Negros Oriental has continued its relentless operations against suspected drug personalities.
The latest to fall was a certain Lloyd Gablines Conciega, 37 years old, married, amresident of Bais City, Negros Oriental.
Initial police report on Tuesday disclosed that at around 6:30 p.m. Monday, police personnel of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) and the Bais City Police Station, conducted an anti-illegal drugs operation on Aguinaldo Street, Barangay 1 in Bais City.
The operation resulted in the arrest of the suspect, and the recovery of two pieces of heat sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu granules/powder, one mobile phone, and a PHP 500 marked bill used as buy bust money.
Earlier on the same day, at around 9:20 a.m., police operatives arrested a suspected drug pusher, identified as Mariam Ventolero, 26, single, resident of Barangay Sacsac in Bacong, Negros Oriental.
Operatives confiscated from Ventolero 14 sachets containing suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and drug paraphernalia.
In Amlan town, police personnel also conducted a buy-bust operation on Sunday afternoon in Sitio Buswang, Barangay Bio-os.
Arrested was one Elbert Dayot Marimat, 31, resident of Barangay Polo, in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental.
Recovered from his possession were two pieces of transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu granules, one mobile phone and a PHP500 marked bill used in the buy-bust operation.
All suspects are now in jail pending the filing of charges of violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act against them.
Negros Oriental Provincial Police Director, Sr. Supt. Edwin Portento, earlier announced that the PNP, in coordination with the PDEA, will relentlessly pursue the anti-illegal drugs operations in the province.
In the recent weeks, there has been a significant drop in the number of shooting incidents in relation to the illegal drugs trade.
Just last week, the police arrested a suspected drug pusher from whom an estimated PHP 11 million worth of suspected shabu was seized. (PNA)
