3 Pakistanis with alleged terrorist group ties arrested in Mindanao

Three Pakistani nationals with alleged links to a local terrorist group were arrested by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in Zamboanga del Sur and Lanao del Sur earlier this week.

Arrested were undocumented alien Faizan Muhammad alias “Faizan Khan”, 34; Ali Wahab, 36; and Ajmal Ali, 35. All are facing charges for violation of the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940.

Muhammad was nabbed in Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur, for violation of the conditions of his stay and for being an undocumented alien, while Wahab and Ali were located in Lanao del Sur.

The BI said Muhammad, together with Wahab, were subject of a complaint that alleged Muhammad for possessing an expired travel document and overstaying in the country since 2015.

They allegedly harassed the complainant’s family and threatened to kill the complainant, citing support from a terrorist group.

Muhammad failed to show a passport during his arrest, but presented a Philippine national ID.

Wahab and Ali also failed to present travel documents, and were both found overstaying and undocumented, with the latter being tagged by a report as a supplier of materials for a local extremist group in Central Mindanao. AG
