300,000 hogs culled due to ASF

Up to 300,000 hogs or an equivalent of three percent of the hog population in the country have been culled due to African Swine Fever (ASF), the Department of Agriculture (DA) disclosed.

The agriculture department reported that the extent of ASF has gone to 25 provinces, eight regions, 982 barangays, and 224 municipalities and cities in the country.

The entire Visayas, Palawan, Mindoro, and Mindanao except some barangays in Davao, remain ASF-free.

“Ang alam ko ho takot ang ASF sa init, pero ngayon hong tag-ulan medyo mag-ingat po ang mga kababayan natin… Naku, kakalat po ‘yon (I know that ASF fears the heat but we must be vigilant this rainy season…It will spread),” Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) Director Ronnie Domingo reiminded.
