The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will commence the simultaneous cash relief assistance (CRA) payout for over 328,000 tricycle drivers in cities outside the National Capital Region (NCR) starting April 8.

This is in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure that Filipinos whose livelihoods are affected by the rising cost of fuel will be assisted.

In a news release on Monday, DSWD Spokesperson Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao said the projected numbers of beneficiaries are expected to increase once all reports from the regional field offices have been consolidated.

Asec. Dumlao said the DSWD will use the “clean list” provided by local government units (LGUs) in the payout of tricycle drivers across the regions outside NCR.

The Social Welfare spokesperson said the lists of beneficiaries for tricycle drivers were provided by the LGUs, which issued their permits.

Under the CRA, each tricycle driver-beneficiary will receive P5,000 to help cushion the impact of the escalating oil prices resulting from geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

For the schedule and venue, Dumlao said the DSWD FOs are still finalizing with the concerned LGUs the exact locations of the payout areas to ensure the accessibility and safety of beneficiaries.

The public may access the official communication platforms of the DSWD through its website www.dswd.gov.ph and official Facebook page: facebook.com/dswdserves.

The CRA is being implemented by the DSWD under its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program which serves as a social safety net or stop-gap mechanism to support the recovery of individuals and families who are experiencing unexpected crises. (PNA)
