4 illegal drug suppliers nabbed in Zamboanga

ZAMBOANGA CITY — Joint police and military operatives have arrested four alleged suppliers and seized some PhP200,000 worth of illegal drugs just outside a police camp in this city, the police reported Wednesday.

Chief Insp. Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Al-Sadap Julkanain, 27; Ayesha Julkanain, 37; Armida Aylani, 30; and Noriya Maani.

Galvez said they were arrested in a buy-bust operation at around 5 p.m. Tuesday in Barangay Zone 1, this city.

She said the suspects are known suppliers of illegal drugs in the PC compound area in Barangay Zone 1 and nearby barangays.

The community earned its name as PC compound area since it is just located outside Camp Gen. Eduardo Batalla that then houses the Philippine Constabulary-Integrated National Police (PC-INP) regional command headquarters in Barangay Zone 1.

Camp Batalla now houses the different national support units of the Philippine National Police (PNP) such as the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), PNP Anti-Cyber Crime Group, Highway Patrol Group and others.

Galvez said the arresting team confiscated from the suspects the following: 10 large size and one medium size heat sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu with PhP200,000 estimated street value; PhP1,000 marked money consisting of 10 PhP100 bills; and, illegal drugs paraphernalia.

She said the suspects were detained while appropriate charges are set to be filed against them. (Teofilo Garcia, Jr/PNA)
