A 5.9-magnitude quake struck Balut Island, Davao Occidental Monday morning, Jan. 24, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
The tectonic tremor hit 303 kilometers (km) southeast of Balut Island at 10:13 a.m.
It had a depth of 27 km.
According to Phivolcs, the quake was an aftershock of the magnitude 7.0 quake that jolted Davao Occidental on Jan. 18.
No damages and aftershocks are expected.
