5 drug suspects arrested in Bicol

LEGAZPI CITY — Anti-narcotics operatives collared five suspected illegal drug pushers in separate drug-bust operations in the provinces of Camarines Sur and Camarines Norte, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Bicol on Thursday.

Arrested were Expedito Bunag, alias Atong, a High Value Target (HVT) and member of the Kaka Malonso Drug Group; Jurhel Balane, 20, single both from Daet, Camarines Norte; Ernie Atcheco, 33, single, a drug surrenderer of Milaor town; Ruel Ibarreta, 38, single of Iriga City; Dante Badong, 46, married of Naga City; all from Camarines Sur, said Police Senior Inspector Maria Luisa Calubaquib on Thursday.

Seized from the suspects during the separate buy-bust operations were two medium-sized transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu or crystal meth, and three small sachets of suspected shabu.

Bunag was arrested around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in Barangay 4, Daet town; while Balane was nabbed at about 1:50 a.m. Thursday at Barangay Camambugan, Daet town.

Suspects Atcheco, Ibarreta, and Badong were arrested around 12:50 a.m. Thursday at Zone 1, Barangay San Jose, in Milaor town, Camarines Sur.
