CAPAS, Tarlac — A 525-unit condominium type dwelling that will house employees of the National Government Administrative Center (NGAC) and other locators in New Clark City here is expected to be completed this year.

The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) and its partner MTD Philippines Inc. on Thursday held a topping-off ceremony at “The Residences” where at least 1,000 government employees can avail of units with modern amenities through housing loans.

The ceremony was led by BCDA president Vivencio Dizon along with MTD Philippines Inc. president Nikko David, Tarlac (2nd District) Rep. Victor Yap and Capas Mayor Reynaldo Catacutan.

The Residences is an integral part of the government’s response to President Rodrigo Duterte’s vision to decentralize state offices in Metro Manila and solve the congestion problem in the capital.

The project is significant for the government employees who will be the first occupants of New Clark City, the first smart and disaster-resilient city in the country.

Units at The Residences come in one, two, and three-bedroom models.

An estimated 1.02 million residents are expected to populate New Clark City and 582,000 of them will belong to the city’s workforce.

The Residences complements other developments in New Clark City such as the world-class sports facilities to be used for the 30th South East Asian Games, and the provision of reliable water and power utilities in the new metropolis.

During the topping-off ceremony, David said they have 221 days to finish the construction at the New Clark City.

Other officials of government agencies who were also present during the event included Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) president and CEO Cecilia Borromeo, Landbank Leasing Corp. president and CEO Manuel Lopez, Office of Civil Defense Deputy Administrator Kristoffer James Purisima and UP-Philippine Eye Research Institute Director Dr. Leo Cubillan.

These agencies will soon have offices at New Clark City.
