GENERAL SANTOS CITY — At least 53 police officials and personnel in the Soccsksargen region received service medals on Monday for their outstanding performance in recent activities and operations.
Senior Supt. Manuel Lukban, chief of the Police Regional Office 12’s (Soccsksargen) directorial staff, said in an interview Tuesday that 30 of the awardees received the Medalya ng Kasanayan or Philippine National Police (PNP) Efficiency Medal while the 23 others got the Medalya ng Kagalingan or PNP Medal of Merit.
The awards were conferred following the weekly flag-raising rites at the PRO-12 headquarters in Barangay Tambler here.
Lukban said the 24 police personnel led by Chief Supt. Ulysses Caton, the deputy regional director for administration, were bestowed with the Medalya ng Kasanayan for leading the successful proficiency evaluation process for local police units from June 4 to October 12.
He said Caton headed the regional technical working group, interim audit team and secretariat for the evaluation, which focused on the implementation of the PNP Performance Governance System.
The assessment covered programs and activities that seek to upgrade the quality and standard of police service in conformity with the PNP Patrol Plan 2030.
The other awardees were Senior Supt. Oliver Enmodias, Senior Supt. Lex Ephraim Gurat, Senior Supt. Joel Limson, Senior Supt. Joseph Semillano, Senior Supt. Portia Manalad, Senior Supt. Ranie Hachuela, Senior Supt. Henry Villar, Supt. Jemuel Siason, Supt. Mary Ivy Salazar, Supt. Herman Kaoska, Chief Insp. Jenahmeel Tonacao, Senior Police Officer (SPO) 3 Sherill Ybanez, SPO2 Jane Maribojo, PO3 Joan Calunsag, PO2 Maricel Potutan, PO1 Chiclette Kaye Mosqueda, and PO1 Eayann Kenneth Semillano.
Also recognized were non-uniformed personnel Jhoann Layson Barroquillo, Asher Deniro, Mary Jane Pazonila, Adrian Bagatua, April Anne Rabe, and Grace Leonor.
Six police officers and personnel from the Police Security and Protection Group 23 received the Medalya ng Kasanayan for leading the recent series of lectures and exercises on security responsiveness, procedures, protocols, and body protection drills for four batches civil security personnel of local government units.
The awardees were Chief Insp. Vici Anthony Tababa, SPO4 Alfred Patron, SPO3 Randolf Lagman, SPO1 Jepson Corsit, SPO1 Mark Anthony Perez, and PO1 Chris Nelson Capili.
At least 23 other personnel assigned under the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 12 were conferred the Medalya ng Kagalingan for the “successful” anti-drug operation in Sto. Nino town in South Cotabato last September 29.
The operation led to the deaths of three “high-value” drug personalities in an alleged shootout in Purok Malipayon, Barangay Ambalgan in Sto. Nino.
The awardees were Senior Insp. Michael Elopre, Senior Insp. Brent Ian Salazar, Senior Insp. John Anthony Oplas, Insp.
