A 55-year-old father passed the Bar examination held in November 2022 after a two-decade trial.

In a now-viral post on TikTok, Kath Suarez, daughter of newly-passed lawyer Roberto Suarez, shared her father’s journey.

Kath said her father first took the Bar exam in 2003. Then tried anew in 2004 and 2006, but was also unsuccessful.

He then took an 11-year break and attempted again in 2017 and also in 2019 – Roberto failed both times.

However, his last attempt in 2022 earned him the title of attorney.

“Last 2021, nagpagawa ako ng ‘Future Lawyer’ cake for his birthday,” Kath recalled.

“Manifest lang muna tayo [noon] not knowing if this day will ever come,” she added.

Kath also shared that while her father was studying for the November 2022 Bar exam, he was working full-time as a court decongestion officer at the Municipal Trial Court in Sta. Maria, Bulacan.

“20 years in the making. Between those years, we hit rock bottom kaya ang layo ng agwat ng take niya. 2006 ‘yung last, then 2017 na ang next. 11 years,” she added.

“Who would have thought na ibibigay din pala talaga sa tamang panahon? After 20 years, after ng 6th try?” she said. — cf
