5K jobs available at EDSA anniversary fair: DOLE

MANILA — Over 5,000 jobs, majority overseas employment, would be offered by 15 participating local employers and recruitment agencies at the one-day job fair on Sunday in Quezon City in celebration of the 32nd anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said on Thursday.

With this, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III encouraged jobseekers to visit the Quezon City Hall grounds where the agency’s Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK) job and business fair will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) said a total of 5,000 job orders in the land-based and sea-based sector would be offered by 10 participating recruitment agencies.

The countries of destination are Qatar, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Papua New Guinea, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, and Malaysia.

On the other hand, initial report from the DOLE National Capital Region said that 442 vacancies to be offered by local employers are for the positions of sales associate, management trainee, cashier/counter checker, accounting assistant, graphic artist, account sales executive, helper, IT programmer, sales administrative assistant, buyer, carpenter, installer, mechanical engineer, merchandising assistant, painter, and plumber.

Other vacancies are for the positions of waitress, ground steward, nurse, midwife, medical technologist, engineer, surveyor, electrician, technician, pipefitter/plumber, carpenter, driver, factory worker, sales staff, programmer, air traffic controller, barista, laborer, and cook.

The DOLE said there would also be a simultaneous distribution of iDOLE OFW cards during the event.

Bello reminded applicants to bring requirements such as resume or curriculum vitae (bring extra copies for multiple job applications); 2 x 2 ID pictures; certificate of employment for those formerly employed; diploma and/or transcript of records; and authenticated birth certificate.
