6 Cavite jail escapees recaptured

BACOOR CITY, Cavite – Six of the 22 inmates who bolted Friday afternoon from the city’s Custodial Center located in Talaba 4 have been recaptured.

PSI Aldrin Cabatan, Bacoor City Police operations chief, said the 22 inmates escaped after rushing and pushing the gate, overpowering the jail guard and two police personnel. They all ran towards the direction of Emilio Aguinaldo Highway.

Cabatan said the incident happened at about 4:23 p.m. when Jeremiah T. Perez, a non-uniformed personnel, was about to bring back inmate Angel Eusebio inside cell number 2 after a “mugshot” session.

The police initially recaptured three of the escapees after half an hour. They were not immediately named.

Checkpoints and manhunt operations were immediately launched resulting in the recapture of Junjie Moog while Tristan Lance Ocupe surrendered to the police. Gerald Lintan was recaptured at about 8 p.m. Friday.

The remaining 16 escapees are Jene Lloyd Bernabe, Junmarco Castro, Kevin Riano, Leomar Prodon, Marcelo Ruiz, Marin Donato, Michael Salac, Ferc Leo Melendrez, Frederick Salondro, Jason Daniel, Norbet Hidalgo Jr, Roland Ramirez, Romeo Cabral, Dellon Divinagracia, Dennis Baluban, and Ariel Villacampa.

The inmates were detained for various cases, from violation of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act) to robbery hold-up, and frustrated murder, among others. (Gladys Pino/PNA).
