6 firms named best employers in PH for 2017

MANILA — Six companies were named as Best Employers in the Philippines for 2017 by Aon, a leading global professional services firm for risk, retirement, and health solutions.

On Tuesday, Aon awarded the firms American Express International Inc., DHL Express Philippines Corp., Home Credit Philippines, InterContinental Hotels Group Philippines, Marriott International Philippines, and Sodexo Benefits & Rewards Services Philippines as the Best Employers Philippines 2017 at the Manila Peninsula Hotel.

Aon Hewitt Malaysia and the Philippines Managing Director Prashant Chadha said Aon picked the best employers that excel in four critical areas of talent management including high employee engagement, compelling employer brand, effective leadership, and high performance culture.

Chadha noted that Aon’s Best Employers in the Philippines have scored higher than the market’s average across the four core areas of talent management.

For employee engagement, Best Employers scored 87 percent, above the 69-percent market average.

Best Employers recorded 92-percent score in compelling employer brand, higher than the average market score of 77 percent; 88 percent in effective leadership, compared to average score of 68 percent; and 86 percent in high performance culture, than market’s average of 67 percent.

“When organizations have high engagement levels, employees say good things about working there, strive harder in their jobs, and stay for long term,” said Chadha.

Aon also found out that younger Filipino employees, who are born after 1991, “are the least engaged at workplace”.

Aon noted that this trend called for urgent need for employers to transform their people practices.

It added that the changing talent landscape has presented employers challenges in attracting and retaining talent.

“With the onset of a multi-generational workforce, employee expectations are varied and evolving, making it challenging for organizations to keep them engaged. Forward thinking organizations combine rigorous data, survey science and powerful technology to transform employee experience and accelerate growth,” Chadha said.

Meanwhile, Aon’s study revealed top three challenges in organizations, which include rising salaries, poor availability and selection of talent, and inadequate leadership pipeline. (Kris Crismundo/PNA)
