The Department of Agriculture announced that six more provinces in Luzon have been hit by the African Swine Fever (ASF).
The ASF outbreak was reported in Albay, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, and Quirino, according to the agriculture department.
DA Secretary William Dar assured that the culling operations are being strictly implemented in affected areas to prevent further transmission while Local Government Units (LGUs) are checking the transport of pork products.
“Alam natin na walang bakuna pa ang swine fever at sana makikipag-tulungan lahat ng ating mga hog raisers at sundin ang tamang quarantine protocols kung paano ma-manage itong ASF (We know that there is still no vaccine for ASF and we encourage hog raisers to cooperate and follow appropriate quarantine protocols in managing ASF),” Dar said in the Laging Handa Public Briefing on Thursday.
“Mayroon po tayong binibigay na Php 5,000 na indemnification fund nito kada ulo (We are giving Php 5,000 indeminification fund per head),” Dar shared. – PTV News
