67 health facilities damaged in Calabarzon, Bicol Region


The number of health facilities and establishments damaged by super Typhoon Rolly continues to increase in the country amid the threat posed by the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Latest data from the Department of Health (DOH) show that 67 health facilities were damaged in Calabarzon and Bicol Region, including DOH and LGU hospitals, laboratories, rural health units, and barangay health stations.

A total of 30 temporary treatment and monitoring facilities (TTMFs) were also wrecked in the Bicol Region.

The DOH assured that it is continuously monitoring the situation of health facilities and patients in the said institutions. ₱20 million have already been released to assist those affected by super Typhoon Rolly.

“Patuloy po na nagbibigay tayo ng tulong sa mga apektadong lugar upang mas masigurado po natin na maging mas ligtas sila in the coming days (We keep providing assistance to affected areas to ensure their safety in the coming days),” DOH USec. Maria Rosario Vergeire stated.

The combined damage to infrastructure and agriculture of super Typhoon Rolly has been estimated at ₱11 billion as of 8 a.m. of November 5, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC).

Meanwhile, as of latest count, there are 391,809 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country and 34,374 are currently active. Total recoveries climbed to 349,974 and deaths to 7,461. – Report from Mark Fetalco
