74 suspects nabbed in Bacolod since resumption of anti-drug ops

BACOLOD CITY — The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has arrested 74 suspects and seized almost PHP756,000 worth of illegal drugs since the resumption of its anti-drug operations last December 23.

Sr. Supt. Francisco Ebreo, officer-in-charge of BCPO, on Friday said the local campaign against illegal drugs has been very dynamic since then.

The arrests were the result of 47 operations, wherein 129 cases have been filed against the suspects.

The PHP755, 804.85 worth of drugs seized during the period included 75.438 grams of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and 40.710 grams of marijuana.

In a press statement, the BCPO said these accomplishments were brought by the unwavering guidance of Ebreo and the hard work and dedication of Bacolod policemen.

“With the support and understanding of the community and other stakeholders our fight against illegal drugs will succeed,” it added.

The BCPO said that “the guidelines pertaining to police operations are strictly followed so that no violation of human rights can be committed.”

“We comply with our patrolling duties aimed to deter criminalities in our communities and at the same time engage the stakeholders to monitor drug personalities, illegal gambling operators and couriers, street level criminals among others,” the BCPO also said. “We can do so much more if additional resources like the K9 narcotic dogs, personnel, and vehicles are provided.” (PNA)
