8K Kidapawan seniors set to receive social pension

KIDAPAWAN CITY — More than 8,000 senior citizens here are set to receive their social pension from the city social welfare office this week.

Daisy Gaviola, city assistant social welfare officer, said the payout is the fourth and last for 2018, and the pensioners would receive the amount of PHP1,500 each.

On Monday, more than 1,000 senior citizens from Barangay Poblacion already received their yearend pensions.

Gaviola said personnel of their department, together with those of the city treasurer’s office and barangay officials, are set to visit the city’s 40 villages this week to personally hand over the grant to the elderlies.

“This initiative is to safeguard the elders from the hassles of travel in going to the city gymnasium where the payouts are usually done,” she said.

Only last month, the seniors received an additional assistance of PHP2,400 each under the unconditional cash transfer program of the government to cushion the economic impact of the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) on poor Filipinos for three years starting 2018. (Noel Punzalan/PNA)
