C. Luzon cops step up quake preparedness thru drill

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — At least 500 uniformed and non-uniformed personnel of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 3 (CentraL Luzon) participated in an earthquake drill Monday.

Oscar Jacildo, chief of Regional Police Community Relations Office, said the activity was part of their continuing efforts to enhance preparedness for natural disasters and calamities.

Jacildo said the earthquake drill/simulation is a quarterly exercise designed to step up the awareness, preparedness and readiness of police personnel and other employees inside the camp for an actual earthquake.

“The important part of the drill is to understand that when there is an earthquake, it is safest to drop to the ground, find cover and hold on,” he said.

Jacildo said the activity began with a one-minute blowing of siren that signaled all police personnel and other employees to drop to the floor, find cover under their tables, and hold on to it.

Afterwards, all participants went outside, with both hands covering their heads for protection from possible falling objects, walked in a single file and proceeded to the designated evacuation area, which is the Parade Ground located in front of the administration building.
