A total of 496 Barangays are now declared as “drug-cleared” for 2019.
The PDEA Regional Office – National Capital Region (RO-NCR) was able to surpass the target of clearing 491 Barangays in NCR in a recently conducted Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing Program for the Clearing and Declaration of one hundred (100) applicant barangays that are considered as drug affected from the cities throughout Metro Manila on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the Le Pavilion, Macapagal Avenue, Pasay City.
The Regional Oversight Committee are composed of PDEA as Chair, led by RO-NCR Regional Director Joel B. Plaza and co-chaired by members from the other Government Agencies such as the Philippine National Police (PNP) represented by PCapt. Gian Napoleon Baquiran; Department of Interior and Local Government-NCR (DILG-NCR) represented by Ms. Elsie Castillo; Department of Health (DOH) represented by the City Health Officer of Pasay City and members of the Pasay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) together with the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (BADACs).
This undertaking is in line with the Three-Pronged Approach of holistic anti-drug strategy adopted by PDEA (Supply Reduction, Demand Reduction and Harm Reduction) as the national anti-drug campaign in building drug resistant communities.
As of October 31, 2019, a total of three hundred and ninety-eight (398) Barangays are already declared as “DRUG-CLEARED” by the Committee. Out of the one hundred (100) Barangays who applied for the Drug Clearing Program this month of November, only ninety-eight (98) Barangays has been declared as “Drug-Cleared”.
This newly declared ninety-eight (98) drug-cleared Barangays will be added to the three hundred and ninety-eight (398) previously cleared Barangays, making it a total of four hundred and ninety-six (496) drug-cleared Barangays for the period of January to November 2019.
As set forth in Section 11 of DDB Regulation No. 3, series of 2017, after conducting drug-clearing operations in the barangay, the oversight committee will issue the drug-cleared certification of a barangay that had complied with the parameters set by the board regulation.
The local chief executive or the ADAC chairman will then attest to the certification made by the local chief of police and validated by the PDEA Regional Director.
