MANILA — The latest in packaging technologies are expected to be showcased at the ProPak Philippines trade fair, slated on Jan. 24 to 26 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

Organized by UBM Asia, this will be the first ProPak event in the Philippines and is also expected to be the biggest international processing and packaging trade event in Asia.

“We are launching ProPak Philippines to a backdrop of a very strong industry and strong government objectives and initiatives to drive it forward. We are very pleased that we have all of this strong support to support this first step into the Philippine market,” said UBM Asia General Manager Justin Pau.

“Food exports are increasing rapidly, and this is laso from a government directive to upgrade MSME (micro, small, and medium enterprises) production in order to increase exports. Food exports have grown over 30 percent per year, and one of the key factors is the packaging that is required for exporting,” Pau added.

The trade fair will focus largely on packaging technologies for food, drink, and pharmaceutical products.

The trade event will gather 278 exhibitors from 28 countries. Around 6,000 visitors are expected to attend the first ProPak Philippines, Pau said.
