BATAC CITY — Hundreds of students, tourists, furniture collectors, and plant enthusiasts flock to the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) to enjoy their shopping spree at the newly-opened trade fair and garden show that will run until January 31.
During its opening program on Tuesday, MMSU President Shirley Agrupis said the convergence of entrepreneurs from Baguio, Nueva Vizcaya, and the Southern Tagalog region in this venue has made the celebration of the university’s 41st foundation anniversary fun and exciting.
“With the variety of goods that are brought here from different places in Luzon, we are (indeed) having a festival of products that showcase the ingenuity, creativity, culture, and probably an exhibit of the arts that satisfies our needs, hobbies, and whims,” Agrupis said.
Local consumers and buyers from Batac and nearby towns said only in this kind of trade fair can limited space be converted into a local market.
For furniture lovers, the trade fair saves them a lot in terms of delivery costs.
One exhibitor said, “It is not only us, the entrepreneurs and exhibitors, who may benefit from this trade fair. It may also trigger financing and lending activities that local cooperatives may accommodate their members in obtaining the goods at cash price, especially high-cost products, such as furniture.”
For MMSU, the trade fair is one way of showcasing the best products in research, while disseminating and promoting them to stakeholders.
The technologies developed are also open for everyone who may wish to adopt them.
